EU and Brazil Collaborate on Pioneering 10GW Green Hydrogen Project for Croatia
Piauí Governor Rafael Fonteles has touted the project as the largest of its kind globally, with investments exceeding BRL 100 billion. Additionally, Unigel, under the leadership of CEO Roberto Noronha Santos, is set to invest USD 1.5 billion in a separate green hydrogen project in Brazil, aiming to leverage technology from Thyssenkrupp Nucera.
The initiative aligns with the EU's REPowerEU targets and contributes to the global green hydrogen market growth, projected to reach USD 7.314 billion by 2027. This market expansion is fueled by decreasing renewable energy costs and advances in electrolysis technologies. However, challenges like high initial costs and sustainability management remain key concerns.
